OthSync Privacy Policy

How the OthSync app for Android handles your information — in short: it doesn't collect any.

Version 2026-10-02 · 7 sections · about 2 min to read

The short version

Your privacy, in plain words

A reading aid, not part of the document — the full text below is what counts.

  • Nothing goes online

Files move straight between your devices over your Wi-Fi — never to a server or cloud.

  • Encrypted, and you approve

Every connection is encrypted, and both devices must agree to it.

  • No account, no tracking

No sign-in, no ads, no analytics. We collect nothing about you.

  • Camera only for QR codes

Used only to scan the other device's code; nothing is saved.

  • Location only for the Wi-Fi name

Optional, asked only when you choose to show your Wi-Fi's name.

  • Your data stays yours

Settings, folders and history stay on your phone, and go when you uninstall.

Privacy Policy

  1. 01

    Who we are

OthSync is made by OthTech Solutions. This policy covers the OthSync app for Android. You can reach us at admin@othtech.com.

  2. 02

    We don't collect your data

OthSync has no account, no sign-in, no advertising and no analytics. The app does not send any information about you, your device or your files to OthTech Solutions or to anyone else. We have no servers that receive your files.

  3. 03

    How files move

Files go directly from one of your devices to another over your local Wi-Fi (or a phone's hotspot), over an encrypted connection (TLS 1.3). Both devices must agree to connect — by a one-time code, a QR code, or a 6-digit number shown on both screens. Files are never uploaded to the internet or to a cloud.

  4. 04

    What stays on your phone

The app keeps a few things on your phone only: your device name, your own folders and favourites, a short list of earlier transfers (device name, number of files, size and time), and a security key that lets devices recognise each other. Uninstalling the app removes them. Files you receive are saved to the phone (and photos and videos to your Gallery, if you leave that on) — you can delete them any time.

  5. 05

    Permissions and why

Wi-Fi and network access — to find devices running OthSync on the same Wi-Fi and connect to them.

Camera — only to scan another device's QR code. Images are processed on the phone and never saved or sent.

All files access (optional) — so you can find and send any file on your phone. Without it, the app still works with files you received. File names and contents never leave the phone except to the device you choose to send them to.

Location (optional) — Android only tells apps the name of your Wi-Fi when location is allowed. OthSync asks only when you tap “Show name” in Settings, uses it only to show that name, and never reads or stores where you are.

  6. 06

    Children

OthSync is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from anyone.

  7. 07

    Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with its date. Questions? Write to admin@othtech.com.
